Alex O’Loughlin FanArt Weekly Wednesday

Wednesday is here again and so is our weekly fanart post. This is one of our favorite posts to do as we get to unveil some great new fanart by the contributors.  Although we never know what to expect, we are always amazed what shows up and the creativity we see. Fanart, just like real art, is in the eye of the beholder so do you have any favorites this week?

First from Bryna this week, she did a movie poster which is great because we know everyone loves when she does those.  In this case she did one as Alex in the movie Spectre in the role of James Bond instead of Daniel Craig. What makes this one even more special and not to hard to imagine is Alex actually was second in line for the Bond part so this is very easy to imagine. Here is the original with Daniel Craig. Although we all would have surely been a fan of Alex as James Bond, it would have meant no Alex as Mick, Stan, Dr. Andy, or Steve…Do think it worked out better this way?

Next, from Monika, here is Alex in a film. She took some of his moments with the buzz cut and made some miniature Alexes. Pretty neat how she set them in motion within the film and the brown and white background with a faded color of Alex makes it seem like the older versions before the digital age took over.

Moving on we have these two pieces from Gaby. She stayed along the lines of a pretend movie and book so with that being said you can fill in the pages of each. First the movie The McGarrett Ultimatum, can you create a story line that would marvel the name? How about something similar to the Bourne Ultimatum such as:

Steve McGarrett is a Navy SEAL who was left for dead in the jungle with numerous gun shot wounds. He was saved by a film crew that was scouting the area for a new film when they came across him.. When he regained consciousness he had no idea who he was and what had happened to him. Is the film crew who they say they are and what will he have to do to escape his “rescuers’ ” grasp? Will Danno ever see him again and what depths will he go to to find his brother in arms? All will be revealed in The McGarrett Ultimatum, coming soon to screens near you.

Or something like that and If you do not like that you can come up with your own interpretation as art is the perfect avenue for that; only in the imagination of the artist and those that view it.

As for the Secrets & Lies plot…what do you think is happening behind those crystal blue eyes? Did he really do what they said he did and if not how will he clear his name? Sounds like a fan fiction in the making. if anyone wants to fill in the lines.

Continuing on to something entirely different, we have Sonja and her creations. She themed her week around Alex and his real hobbies. If you are a fan of Alex, you probably know that he is an avid guitarist and also a BJJ purple belt. Each of these hobbies take on just a part of the depth that he is and she captured them in her pieces for the week.

For the first one she chose a classic James Taylor verse along the side of Alex tinkering with one behind the scenes. She could have been inspired by when James Taylor actually visited the set of Hawaii Five 0 back in April 2013. Alex played the role of the fan that time although there did seem to be a mutual admiration. Here is one of the pics of that meeting. James even signed a guitar for him and some of the cast was able to attend his show in Honolulu.  Nice depiction of bringing those worlds together.

In this one she took Alex and exemplified his love and pride for the the BJJ sport. She used the perfect red circle background representing Japan and the origins of BJJ. She even included Alex with one of Alex’s friend’s Enson Inoue’s bracelets which also exemplifes Japanese tradition. This is a very nice representation of Alex’s BJJ life.

For Silvia, we pulled from our gallery for something from the past and since we have not seen a lot of this character for a while, we chose this one of Dr. Andy and his pensive look. From whatever angle you look at this, he just depicts the concern for one of his patients. It is just another example that Alex can say so much with just one look.

That is it for the unveiling for this week. The creators have some great imaginations and always take us to the depths of some of the best thought out fanart of Alex there is. Thanks for everyone’s contributions. Until next week, Aloha.
