Alex O’Loughlin Honors Spirit Day

It is Spirit Day today and also happens to be throwback Thursday so we thought we would share when Alex along with Daniel Dae Kim did this promo for it. It was back in 2014 but is still timely for today.

If you do not know what Spirit Day is, here is the definition according to Wikipedia.

Spirit Day

The name Spirit Day comes from the purple stripe of the Rainbow flag, whose creator Gilbert Baker defined it as “representing ‘spirit'”. In early October 2010, Canadian teenager Brittany McMillan promulgated the observance of a new event called Spirit Day, the first observance of which took place on October 20, 2010; the exact date of the observance has varied over the years since, occurring on October 17 in 2013, October 16 in 2014, and October 15 in 2015, before returning to October 20 in 2016. On this day people wear the color purple to show support for LGBT youth who are victims of bullying. Promoted by GLAAD, many Hollywood celebrities wore purple on this day to show their support of this cause, and many websites added a prominent purple shade to their design.

Kudos to Alex and CBS for supporting this cause. Do you have your purple on today?
