Alex O’Loughlin Resurrected!

alex in tvguide

Alex’s interview with TV Guide can be found here. Here are some juicy tidbits:

From all accounts, O’Loughlin does his job well. Says Minds coexec producer Simon Mirren, You know it’s a good [performance] when the crew starts hanging around the monitor. They came up to me and said, ˜This guy’s great. From my point of view, the more an actor can inhabit something that’s the opposite of him, the more producers can be surprised by it.

As for his personal life, O’Loughlin dated  Aussie actress Holly Valance (Prison Break) for four years, but are having a time-out, he says. Hear that, ladies?

The Antarctica-set thriller casts him as a young, bold smart-ass.Omigod, what a stretch, he jokes.) And get this”in one scene, O’Loughlin runs across the ice, wearing only boots and a furry hat. Start the countdown clock now!

  4. Hey everybody: Nov 17th, Chiller TV Channel, starting at 8PM, Moonlight marathon!!!!

  5. Remember the episode where Coraline has Mick recover her cameras. And then she convinces him to go the cemetery. In that episode Mick and Joseph enter the suspect’s home and Mick finds a book “Remembrance of Things Past.” Then there’s that six degrees of separation theory. Today, this book that I’m reading mentions this book!. So I’m thinking this can’t be. So I looked it up. There’s really a book with that title. A huge 3 volume book. Just like the Mussos Restaurant (which is real and in LA), this is strange that this book is also real. Check out the description. And oh, those recent photos of Alex promoting Three Rivers — killer!

  6. Did anyone see this Sunday’s “Parade Magazine”? There’s a small blurb in there about Moonlight, how CBS realizes their mistake and Alex (celebrity section). Check it out!

  7. Well, I guess I got my Alex / Mick fix this week. Tuesday I watched Criminal Minds – again. Then last night, while my husband was at Civil Air Patrol, I watched two episodes of Moonlight. B.C. (love the “I used to love the prime rib at Mussos) and of course I rewind the shower scene and listen to the music many times, and Fleur de Lis (sp??) where he kisses Coraline while on ‘stake out.’ I also love to listen to the music. Of course I then dreamed that I was with Alex – not Mick but Alex. And he was soooo much fun and so tall compared to me. Now I’m thinking my life must be pretty empty to dream of AO?? Can’t wait for the new TV show and his two new movies. Lord he is a cutie! No, he’s a damned hunk!

  8. The suspense is building as we see little snippets of Three Rivers and Alex! Then Whiteout should come in Oct and then of course there’s Alex as a potential dad with JLo. I’ve got some of his DVDs loaned out and I can’t stand it anymore…I’m getting them back. Also started a second letter to send out to our list of potential people with ‘the juice’. Don’t forget about Mussos restaurant too.

  9. Hey Everybody: Last night I got a little shiver. While watching Criminal Minds I saw the first promo for “Three Rivers” “starring Alex O’loughlin” And he looks good in the hospital garb. How will we wait until Fall???
Tiffany where do you get all your info? Whoooooo do you know?

  10. Hi Loretta Averno,

Learn something new everyday…thanks for the “new lesson on birth control”…

Really thought it was cute that you, who I think said you were 58, is describing Alex as too young to get married… He is going to be 33 years old this coming August 24th, that is not too young… but I do hope that when he finds the Miss Right to be Mrs O’Loughlin (not to be confused with his Mom who I believe now has a different surname since she and Alex’s father were divorced when Alex was about 2… Alex also has a younger sister, do not know if she is from this same union…Alex’s Mom remarried a Canadian fellow, but no idea when or how long after the marriage to Alex’s dad dissolved) that this young lady loves him as deeply as he will her and that they will have a long happy life together…

Well, Happy Mother’s Day & chat with you later…

    Tish S

  11. Trish: The ‘birth control’ glasses was a reference to the glasses he wore on Criminal Minds. I was in the Army, and when they issue glasses to soldiers coming into basic training they are these thick ugly, black framed glasses, functional but certainly not designer. They are called “Birth Control” glasses because no one wants to get next to someone wearing those glasses.
And getting back to Alex, I’m hoping the Holly/ big ring thing has nothing to do with him…He’s just too young and too good looking to give it up!

  12. Loretta Averna,

Well you just threw me a curve…Did I miss something? What is this about “birth control glasses” that Alex was wearing?

However, long ago I read that Alex actually does wear glasses, believe it is to read… Go back in various Moonlight & Alex fansites to check out all of his pictures before the episode he filmed on Criminal Minds… I wiil say this for Alex, he makes black thick frames look sexy; with him as an example. perhaps young male kids won’t feel they look like something hideous in glasses…

  13. Did you get to read Alex’s blog on My Space. He seems like such an upbeat person, and very personable.

  14. Jeez, the man even looks good in the birth control glasses! Another fascinating look at Alex’s acting abilities! Of course I taped Criminal Minds and was holding my breath at the wrap up of Pres. Obama’s press conference. So all, do tell, what did you think of Victor/Alex as a wing nut??

  15. I discovered Moonlight on Si Fi, never knew about it. Have fallen in love with series and actors. Rented DVD series and watched serveral times and am now going to purchase it.
It takes you into a world of fantasy and away from all the stress of everyday living. Would like to see it back, a final episode or movie to tie up all the loose ends.

  16. I discovered Moonlight on Si Fi, never knew about it. Have fallen in love with series and actors. Rented DVD series and watched serveral times and am now going to purchase it.

  17. Hi Loretta Averna,

Tish is short for Patricia & a lot less formal…So call me Tish, please…

As far as your letter is comcerned, Wonderful! Siad it sweetly andperfectly… Let us know when or if you get a reply…Don’t get discouraged if it is not answered quickly, even at all, just the main thing is that it went to a Power That Be… Your answer, our answer, is when we read that that Joel did his needed reconning and got back all CBS took of “his baby” and that a Moonlight movie will be going into filming on such and such a date…

  18. OK, stamp is on the envelope. I’m providing a copy (after Patricia did the work for finding Mr. Silver’s address) of my letter regarding my idea for Moonlight.

Mr. Silver: I’m writing as one of the thousands of fans of your TV production of ‘Moonlight.’ I don’t know why it was cancelled? But the final show left many unanswered questions. And hungry for the cast – they are great together.
I realize that to resurrect ‘Moonlight’ would cause huge legal complications, especially as Alex O’loughlin will be busy with a new show (guaranteed he’s got me as a viewer) on CBS.
So here’s something else for consideration – a film of ‘Moonlight’. Just as the ‘X Files’ and ‘Sex in the City’ had a huge fan base, and both films did well, ‘Moonlight’ will do very well too. There are just too many questions and we’re left hanging.
Original cast is of course requested.
Just one of your fans, asking for some more vamp time and lots of answers to a really great show. Oh, and whoever selected the music for the show, keep them on the film too.
    Sincerely,

    Loretta Averna

    Now Loretta Averna,

I am sure you have a life, but who could not just love this show and not feel cheated???

I know that I do. I am a strong opposer to those who say it is time to let Moonlight go…Terribly sorry that anyone would feel this way and not try to resurrect some other form of Moonlight, eg, movie form…

This will no longer be directed toward CBS or any networks but to producers, mainly Joel Silver, whose “baby” Moonlight was…Now I am not sure if Silver sold out his entire interest when he pitched Moonlight to CBS, or if CBS just demanded control as part of the deal…Well, I strongly feel that it is time for a DEAL BREAKER and this can only be handled by Joel to fight for what was rightfully his and his writers for their material… I am not certain if TV writers, or any entertainment industry writers. copywrite their stories as do book writers, but if they do, folks, this is our LOOP HOLE!… Now these are questions that must be posed to Silver and his staff or his independant writing staff… So if the writer’s and Silver actually still have copywrite, Nina Tassler can kiss Moonlight fans Arses in Macy’s windows because the copywrited stories DO NOT BELONG to CBS or TASSLER & this also means that the writers of reference CAN continue adding to the Moonlight story where it left off…

NOW, LORETTA, AND WHOMEVER IS READING THIS POST, IS THIS FINALLY MAKING SENSE TO YOU? THERE ARE LOOPHOLES AND THERE ARE LOOPHOLES, BUT, IT IS MY OPINION, I BELIEVE, THIS IS THE ONE AVENUE NONE OF US HAD THOUGHT OF…YES PERHAPS CBS AND NINA OWN RIGHTS TO THE SERIES AS IT HAD BEEN PRESENTED, BUT WHAT DO WE CARE AS LONG AS WE NOW HAVE OUR DVD OF MOONLIGHT… SILVERS WRITERS COULD GO ON WRITING AS LONG AS THEY HAVE COPYWRITE AND THEY CAN ALTER THE NAME OF MOONLIGHT, BUT NOT SO MUCH WE, ITS FANS, WOULD NOT CATCH ON…THEN, LADIES AND GENTS, THIS IS HOW A MOVIE OF MOONLIGHT CAN BE BORN…

Now, as much as I, myself, as do others, want Alex to again play Mick St John in a Moonlight movie, I will not say “NAH” to another 30ish actor taking over the lead…Yes, I love Alex’s acting abilities, and HE is the ultimate Mick St John… I will continue to follow Alex’s career and support every peice of film he will appear in in the future; I intend to watch this April 29th episode of Criminal Minds though I loath that it is on, as one fan put it, that Crazy Broadcasting System; I look forward to Alex’s pilot, Three Rivers, going into a weekly series… I have, since Mick St John was born, watched many Alex performances from AU & The Shield/6th Season here in the USA… Though all had their separate appeal, none can compare with Moonlight… I am not here slighting Alex, I AM HERE APPEALING TO EVERYONE TO CONTINUE THE FIGHT TO GET MOONLIGHT TO CONTINUE IN SOME FORM, WHICH SEEMS, MOST OBVIOUS, TO BE MOVIE FORM…OR PERHAPS SEVERAL SEQUEL MOVIES TO APPEASE OUR MOONLIGHT APPETITES… I am here to say that I AM NOT ACTOR-CENTRIC, I AM HERE TO SAY THAT IT WAS MOONLIGHT’S STORYLINE OF MODERN FOLKLORE VAMPERISM THAT WAS MY DRAW; THE PURSUIT TO FOLLOW ALEX CAME AFTER HE GAVE HIS ALL TO HIS CHARACTER…I ALSO FEEL THAT WAY ABOUT ALL OF THE LEAD ACTORS IN MOONLIGHT, SOPHIA, JASON & SHANNYN & ALSO SAY THAT UNTIL MOONLIGHT’S BEAMS FILTERED INTO MY TV, i KNEW NONE OF THE ACTORS PRIOR NOR KNEW THEIR ABILITIES AS CONVINCING ACTORS…

SO COM’ON PEOPLE, THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO GIVE UP… YES, WE WILL HAVE ALEX BACK ON TV, BUT, IT IS MY OPINION THAT, CBS WILL NEVER BE THE BACKBONE OF HIS CAREER… WE WILL HAVE A NEW SERIES, BUT IS THAT ALL WE WANT? HECK, NO!!!! WHERE IS YOUR SPIRIT? HAVE YOU ALL NOT REALIZED THAT CONTINUING THE CAUSE IS BRINGING MORE AND MORE PEOPLE FORWARD VOICING THEIR DESIRE FOR MORE MOONLIGHT EVEN NOW A YEAR SINCE ITS CANCELLLATION?

Loretta and whomever else is not going to give up and just be woosey and let go, write to this address and catch Joel Silvers eye that people still want to bask in Moonlight and directly ask him what is HE GOING TO DO ABOUT BRING THAT ABOUT???

    Mr Joel Silver,
    Executive Producer,
    Silver Pictures
    c/o Warner Bros
    4000 Warner Boulevard
    Burbank, CA, 91522

  20. Patricia: I have NEVER written in about a show. So you can see how this one impacted/impacts me. Since I bought the DVD of Moonlight, I have watched every episode about 4 times, and keep seeing more to it. So how do WE work this? I have no experience in pushing the corporate TV world into a ‘revival.’
Yesterday I watched the ‘shower scene’ three times! Jeez, I need to get a life. Want to know who this ‘eye candy’ is seeing since the Holly break up. WHY do I care? Love Joseph too. His one liners “how are things since cocktail hour” referring to when Beth revived him in the bathtub. Looked like it felt good??? GREAT show. How do we get the executives emails or addresses?? Someone help?

  21. · Edit

    Loretta Averna,

You can’t imagine how much I love you “No Nonsense: post… A lady of my own feelings… More like you are needed to write same in snailmails to TPTB, like Joel Silver who was the Executive Producer of Moonlight…There has got to be a way we can get any holds CBS has on Moonlight away from the A-holes…and, even, if Alex gets “Three Rivers” on, though it will be on CBS, who says some other network can’t buy it off of them? And it would also be wise to write to Alex’s booking agents (different from his personal manager) telling them that we all feel that CBS and Nina will hold back Alex’s true potential in his acting career, etc…

So Loretta and All, lets get this ball rolling, so Nina can’t keep Alex like a puppet and she is forced to let go of his #alls…

  22. From a 58-year-old AO, Moonight fan…I downloaded music from the show and it is absolutely killer. And it brings back so many moments of the two of them.
I think about the love triangle all the time. How drawn they are to each other, him watching her grow up, Coraline in the mix, his years with Coraline. And then I think about daily real life. When you’re tired, and all the REAL bs of life. How do you go to bed with a vampire, meaning he’s in the frig and you’re in the bed. He said something funny on this last show about the couple who had been married 150 years, “side by side freezers” but the real part of life. I see them through the restaurant window and their mutual enjoyment of each other. I see that they can’t have kids. I KNOW that in real life when you walk away from someone you really really love, that over the years you do kind of not exactly get over it, but it doesn’t hurt as much. Also know you’re not going to meet a man like that again. His very power is part of his attraction (like a rich man). And if you left him, and then you’re 60 then thinking about him, still out there, still 30, still as he would say, “…scrounging, hiding,” living that life???? VERY sad. God I think I’m crazy even wondering about this *#it. But I do. Would I want to live forever NO. Would I want to be with someone forever, no way, it’s not possible. But that attorney, the female who Joseph and Mick were both tasting her blood (Sonata) when Beth walked in (whew, that was a scene) she told Beth, because she was ‘thinking’ about being turned, that at least that couple HAD 150 years together. What is promised to us? Anyway, I think if I were Beth, I’d go along for the ride for as long as I could. Longer than she thought initially. I’d be somewhat dazzled just by being in this ‘club’. Mick was just too much of a ‘stand up guy’ vampire or no, to just walk away. And he didn’t put up with any of her *^it either. Now I have to go back to the beginning……What a great show! Oh, also loved vampire justice and the husband who wanted to die with his rat vampire wife. The whole rescue scene was just too good. So, here’s the bottom line, do ya think they did it when the door closed? (and if someone walked away from me after a kiss like that, and telling me he loved me, I’d have hauled him back in by the scruff of his *alls) and do ya think she stayed with him???
And who sent the DA (who is clearly moving in on Beth) The List?? OK, I have many unaswered questions. This show MUST be revived. Help!

  23. i am soo happy that alex loughlin is back very happy u make the world happy everybady is happy wiht u cause u are the best en good actor … xxx

  24. Julie took the words right out of our mouths – we couldn’t have said it better. Let’s hope that TPTB at CBS have shortened Nina’s claws and put her on an even shorter leash. Maybe this time Alex will get the complete recognition that we know he deserves. Lesson to all the Nina Tasslers out there – never underestimate the power of a huge fan base, especially if it is for Alex O’Loughlin – we don’t give up that easily!

  25. · Edit

Was meant to be 100,000 than yous…

  26. · Edit

    Julie,
(Hands clasped as if in prayer)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR THE WAY YOU SO BEAUTIFULLY, AND DEFENSIVELY, STATED THE TRUTH ABOUT MOONLIGHT FANS…And as far as our recoginition of major (wonderful and rare, I might add in today’s acting lineup) talent, especially the new (formerally little known personalities) actors in Moonlight, the superb characteriszations they all brought forth,(Alex as the male lead was not to be missed for he gave such life to Mick),100,00 thank yous…

Now please convey this to Westinghouse Corporation, who owns the major stock in CBS, that it was Nina’s wrong call on cancelling Moonlight and that it was, and still si a show worth bringing back…Also let them know, since Alex’s new project may be picked up for Fall (Speaking of Three Rivers) that we would appreciate a sequel of Moonlight movies starring Alex and the TV cast filmed in accordance to each stars schedules for other projects…

  27. Alex O’Loughlin is a major talent as well as being extremely attractive. (Always a nice combo of course!) I too am glad he is getting the recognition that he deserves. His fans are not Moonlight “fanatics” as some critics like to pigeonhole them and thus attempt to reduce their impact. Rather, they recognize a major talent, and they recognized an exceptionally well-done TV show, which a lot of people, even CBS, failed to do.

Yes, I really hope Nina Tassler of CBS stays out of the way for once and allows quality work to stay on the air.

  28. It’s been so long since I last felt so excited about a TV show or movie. Now Alex is back and this time I’m sure there won’t be any “Ninas” on his way.
    HURRAY!!!

  29. I got my TV Guide and I am thrilled – great article, and you did pick some of the best parts. I am so glad that Alex is finally getting some of the recognition in the US that he so richly deserves, and I can hardly wait to see his new work. Nice site, and I’m glad to see that you have a link to Alex’s movies at Amazon. I have all of Alex’s work on DVD – TV and movies, and it is all outstanding. Anyone reading this comment – buy those DVDs!
