Alex O’Loughlin Wrap Up- Week of July 24

It was another good week for pictures in the world around Alex. There was a variety of things that happened this week including filming, fan photos, and a few set visits. Alex also made a birthday girl pretty happy. Thankfully with all of that activity comes many good shots of Alex and here they are:

Candids

There were a lot of candid pics this week so lets start with those.

One of the highlights of the week was a birthday surprise set visit. Monyah has some really great friends that arranged for some time on set. As you can see from the pics and videos, she was so excited to meet Alex. Who wouldn’t be, right? Here are the pics and videos that came from that special event in her life. The first one was posted by her friend that set the surprise up for her. The others come from Monyah’s postings.

Alex and Scott shot at the Kahala Resort and Hotel and these girls were lucky enough to run into them. Here are the pics they took with Alex.

Alex also grabbed a pic with one of the crew’s (Ian) Mom, while she was visiting all the boys. Not a bad way to visit your son at work.

Another set visit this week set up by one of the producers from the first few seasons was with this sweet girl, Aya. She was able to get some memorable shots with the Five-0 men. We also cropped out the individual Alex ones below as his expression is just priceless. hawaii five 0 set visit

This last candid shot for the week comes from Andrew Steele, who is an actor and producer in town to shoot a commercial but must have also done some work on the show based on his post. Although this will never come as a surprise to Alex fans, Andrew reiterates the true character and class of Alex in his post. We have included the whole thing here for you to see what was written in case you have not as of yet.

Behind the Scenes

The behind the scenes were not as plentiful as the first couple of weeks but there were a couple that showed up as they shot at Kahala on Monday and on a local street on Wednesday. Here is what came out of that.

Here he is at the Kahala walking the beach with Scott.

Also from the Kahala, a couple staying there grabbed a couple of pics before they were told to stop by the crew.

As for the Wednesday shoot in the Manoa Valley area, the streets were blocked off so not many shots came from that either. A few residences and the fan’s favorite persistent photographer got a few snaps.

It seems as if there could be some good conversation going on here at a lunch break while shooting on location. The picture was tweeted to Bryna in response to Barney Ho.

Here are a few pics that were sent to us by Cath Villars., who took them at the Hilton filming and the Lagoon filming shoot of the first couple of weeks of season 8. She got a couple of good shots. Thank you Cath for sharing your photos for the fans to see. We have included the Alex ones here and will add a few others to the social media pages.

That’s the wrap for the week and we could say it was a great week in the fandom, but based on some unnecessary drama we cannot say that honestly. Because of that and a few questions that we have received because of it, we want to address a few things.

We will start with a recent post that was done by the Intense Study site. This post included us in it and thus we thought we should respond. If you have been following us for a while, you probably already know our site is unbiased and prefers to stay out of all the fandom drama and politics, as that is not our style. We also feel it takes away from the purpose of the site. With that being said, this post was brought to our attention by many so we felt it was appropriate to just this once clarify a few things.

The reason we do our wrap ups is because it is the easiest way to pull the week of Alex pictures together in one place. We do not want to put together a new post for one or two pictures that come up so we decided to do it weekly instead. Made sense to us and obviously makes sense to many, as many sites outside of this fandom do them. It is not an original idea. There is plenty of room for more than one wrap-up or week in review, or whatever one would choose to call it. There are many of times the pictures may differ a little and certainly the way the post has been done does.

As for the exclusive pictures we have been receiving, we have never told anyone not to share them and we want them to be shared as long as proper credit is provided to the originator, or as the originator has requested us to do. We have never blocked anyone from any of our social media accounts and probably never will. We do not see the purpose.

If people send us pictures direct we are going to post them as they have asked us to. If we do not honor that, people will stop sending pictures and all the fans will lose.

“The fans losing out” is a good segue to the next part of what we would like to address. in their same post, they referred to a local photographer who we all know as Hawaii Isla 808, He temporarily privatized his account so he could resolve the issue of people not crediting him and stealing his pictures that he goes out of his way to get for all the fans. He has said he does it for the fans and the love of the show. He does not consider his pictures exclusive either but he does expect (and deserves) respect, consideration, and credit.

Those of us who have spoken up about it are not “ass kissers” as it was implied by their post, but understand the amount of work it takes for him to get the behind the scenes pictures and choose to protect his right to credit. As mentioned prior, we typically will keep our opinions to ourselves but because some actions of a few could hurt the many that love to see Hawaii Isla 808’s pictures, we thought we should mention this too, not only here but also on a few social media incidences. Their slam of him as an exclusionist was unwarranted and he has the right to block who he chooses to, not to mention there are always two sides to every story.

We do not use our site as a soapbox and try to make it as factual, non-opinionated, and fun as possible. The site is about Alex and his work and not us! We feel that has resonated with many and has been welcomed throughout the fandom. The reason we do this and more about our site can be found here. Thanks for all the support as we all appreciate you following. We promise we will not make a habit of this type of ending to the post and go back to our style of staying out of things. Have a great week!

  1. I’ve just started following both sites and a few other AO/H5O sites this summer ever since I decided to go back and own the DVDS and finally watch the 1st two or three seasons in their entirety and went from casual viewer to slightly obsessed lol! I love checking all the sites (and getting tweets) and seeing what each has to offer whether same or different. And so grateful for those who are able to have H50 experiences and are willing to share them with us! The main goal I saw was to spread love and info on AO and/or H5O:) so I was disheartened, especially after the news of Grace/Daniel leaving, when I saw drama brewing about different topics but especially about people not respecting a photographer’s wishes for deserved credit or keeping the watermark. As an artist I find this sad. Even without the watermark, original art/photos are copyrighted by the photographer/artist so people should at least respect their wishes. And if you don’t the photographer has the right to block you and choose who gets to use them. Simple as that! I’m just lucky they’ve chosen to share the pics/vids at all…so I can get my daily fix ? I just hope it all gets resolved and we can all continue to enjoy the man that is Alex and the show that is H5O! I hope this post makes sense, I’m not very good at this kinda thing?…sorry for the run on sentences! Mahalo!

    1. Oops…the ?s on my post were once emojis lol! Sorry!

    2. Yes agreed and he will continue as he is doing it for the love of the show and the H50 fans.

  2. Thank you for addressing!!!

  3. I totally agree with the being jealous thing. There was truly no reason to post something like that. They have quite enough drama on there site to enjoy without starting any about other sites. And if credit wasn’t being given to Isla 808, then he had every right to do what he did. As for being ass kissers, yeah right, excuse me, pot calling the kettle black. Also numbers speak for themselves, look at the amount of followers on your site versus followers on theirs, just saying! Sorry if this comment is to much, just my opinion!

    1. Everyone is allowed to their opinion and will leave the rest at that. Thanks for following.

  4. I love this site and follow it regularly. You have for me the most up to date information on Alex. Thank you.

    1. Thank you for the kind words and following the site.

  5. Thanks for the wrap up.

I suspect Intense Study’s problem is less to do with you doing weekly wrap ups (which you have been doing for a long time) and more to do with jealousy at not getting exclusive pics sent to them doubled with annoyance at Isla cutting them off from his pics. They have a really great site, but they ruin it with their mean girls attitude. Such a shame. At least here is neutral and the focus is on Alex.

    1. Thank you for your comment and no idea what the intent was but thought it needed to be addressed.
