Alex’s New Role?

Many fan sites are buzzing with news picked up in a short article in the Herald Sun of Australia. It states that Alex’s new role is a transplant surgeon on a new medical series called Three Rivers. It is set in Pittsburgh. Alex is said to play Dr. Andy Yablonski.

The show will be a one hour drama akin to Grey’s Anatomy or ER. It is also important to note that this is information about a pilot only. It has to be filmed and then picked up by the network before we would actually get to see it weekly, so fingers crossed.

I can see Alex being wonderful in a dramatic, emotional role like that of a doctor who is working against time to save lives. With ER going bye bye this season and with Grey’s Anatomy losing talent and ratings this might just be the perfect time for a new medical drama.

So what you do think? Are you excited?

  5. CBS WANTS!!! Does CBS care what its viewers really want? I think not or Moonlight would not have been cancelled…

And if this new medical drama, Three Rivers, does succeed to get to our TVs, it can never “make up” for that blunder CBS made, via Queen B, of cancelling Moonlight…As Alex said in his new MySpace message, “this is as different from Moonlight as you can get” or something like that…

As much as I appreciate the fine, versatile and rare, in today’s lineup of actors, talents of Alex O’Loughlin & will watch his new show to root him on for I strongly feel that Alex will go farther careerwise than dumb CBS, no show can or ever will replace the Moonlight…

  6. Hi Everyone – the only way to silence a critic like Nina is ratings, ratings, ratings. The pilot is being shot, so now we wait until May to see if “Three Rivers” gets picked up. Until that happens, it is out of our hands. I think that TPTB at CBS definitely realize that they made a huge mistake by cancelling “Moonlight” before it really had a chance and this new pilot, hopefully, is their way of correcting it. I keep reading that CBS definitely wants a “medical drama” to compete with those from the other networks and this is their chance to get it and make us all a little happier. Let’s hope that Nina is smarter this time and not so quick to make another bad 🙁 decision.

  7. Patricia,
I have contacted Joel Silver by mail(not email)to ask for a Moonlight movie.I read in a statement somewhere that Alex asked his fans to do so.I will write it again if I have to.Moonlight would do great right now on the big screen since Vamps are the hype now.

  8. patty,

I am under the impression that no one can make “the B, in my opinion, Nina happy…she is, in my opinion, actor-phobic… I like Alex to gain more in his career but am hoping that “Three Rivers” if it does make it to TV, has a short run to get Alex away from that witch and her claws… Alex is a far better actor than for the likes of some show on CBS…
And yes, we all want a Moonlight movie, but I would approach asking Alex,as well as Joel Silver, to comply to that and if we are persistant with our requests, (meaning send many snailmails their way letting them know that this is the time to bring out the Moonlight) we may see what we want on the silver screen of theaters sooner than we think what with the Twilight uproar across the world…

  10. Ah, agreement…thank you, Sonja MMK… Think it was also a costly show to create given the sets, etc, so CBS said lets dump it…But they know they did wrong, no doubt or else they would not have gone to so much trouble to try to eradicate its history and had it pulled from the PC Awards roster, which PCA broadcasts on CBS…Other incidents have brought this CBS conspriracy to light and no one can tell me any different…Just hope Nina has the foresight to know that if she squashes Three Rivers, even before it reaches us, she will also be fighting with her superiors, as well as Alex fans, because the fraud that CBS via Nina purportrated as fact was Nina/CBS invented garbage & it will really show it ugly head…

  11. With all the new Vampire movies, books and TV shows coming out and already out CBS was ahead of its time with Moonlight. Too bad they were too slow-witted and ratings centric to keep it on the air. It now seems to be the model for which other like shows are following. CBS and Nina Tassler just don’t want to admit they made a major mistake in letting Moolight fall by the wayside.

  13. You ain’t just whistling Dixie, Tiffany… Majorly pissed is only putting it mildly…Want to see an “Alex Fan Revolution? Watch if they do not put this pilot on a regular TV series…What would be worse is to have CBS say it is not getting enough ratings and the pull it from us…That would be a boldface lie and we all know that…Just like a certain other Alex site trying to convince that there is no conspiracy theory about Moonlight and the SCI-FI took a break from it b/c of other events they had to show…Bull pucky. think it was that hacker’s fault in posting our comments and private mail on the SCI-FI Forum and that Nina has such spies with the capability of hacking our mail since we have all stuck this out for so long together and our constant being on certain sites since ML is known…

Feel free to be balstphmous about this comment but let’s face it, CBS has the needed technology and if we all keep doubting or making it known we want Three Rivers, we may get to keep it since Nina knows she would be facing hot doo doo if she does not comply…

  18. Hi Again – I stand corrected. I logged on just by typing in “pilot for three rivers” for the internet and a bunch of sites came us referring to KDKA. That’s probably where the most details came from. Anyway, I am sure it will be everywhere soon. Filming was supposed to begin today, 3/26. Until next time. . . .

  19. Hi Everyone – If you guys log on to KDKA.com, you can read info about “Three Rivers”. Yes, this is exciting and let’s hope that Alex has definitely agreed to do this pilot. The trade papers said that if it is picked up, the fall schedule will be announced in May. Fingers crossed.

  20. Good work Linda… Thank you…also if they show clips of the filming, can you record it and send to Tiffany…The minute you, or anyone in the Pittsburgh area, spots Alex, let us all know…

This is the best, and most hopeful, news any of us have heard in a year…

Saying this with no disrespect to Alex… Since Julia Ormond has been around in show business, including movies, for some time, this may be why her name is being broadcast… This is sad, however, because it is slighting Alex and the fact he has already completed his own series a year ago, Moonlight, cancelled or not… Recognizing Ormond over Alex seems like another CBS kick in his beautiful teeth & a kick at ML fans behinds…

  21. Hi Everyone – I told all of you when I got more info on
“Three Rivers”, I’d pass it along. Well here it is – – –
The CBS affiliate in Pittsburgh, KDKA today said that the pilot for a “new series” will begin filming in Pittsburgh tomorrow, 3/26/09. It’s a reality!!!! Filming begins tomorrow and will last for 2 weeks. The name of the show is definitely titled “Three Rivers” and they are filming it in an acutal hospital in Pittsburgh that recently had to close due to financial problems. One thing though, the only cast memeber mentioned was
Julia Ormond, nothing said about Alex or anyone else. They also said if the pilot is picked up, this show will be part of the fall line-up for the upcoming season. Let’s hope that Alex is part of this cast. I’m sure that something will be said on all of the entertainment shows like “The Insider” or “ET” but I will definitely keep you guys posted on anything I hear. Until next time, stay well, stay safe. Linda 🙂

  26. Hi again – there have been a lot of movies and TV shows that were filmed entirely on location in Pittsburgh and the City of Pittsburgh has a TV and film bureau just like most cities have a visitors and convention bureau because of all the filming done there. One show that comes to mind was the first series that Simon Baker of the CBS’s the Mentalist starred in but can’t think of it right now. If there is something happening, it will definitely be announced on TV because there will have to be streets blocked off, etc., not to mention traffic tie-ups. Traffic tie-ups in Pittsburgh are a big deal so that would be newsworthy. Let’s hope Tiffany has more info soon. 🙂

  27. Hi Everyone – So far nothing has been said on any of the Pittsburgh stations about “Three Rivers” filming but the moment I hear something, I will definitely let all of you know because I watch Pittsburgh TV stations for my local news since my hometown in only 30 minutes away from Pittsburgh. This is the most exciting news since the Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII, I guess this is Super Bowl XLIII and 1/2, at least for me anyway, LOL. Let’s all keep each other posted on this one. Until next time friends, stay safe, stay well. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  28. OOPS, last paragraph, first sentence should read…
ALSO SOME REALITY MAY MAKE SUCH A COMPLETE SERAIL FROM BEING ENTIRELY SHOT THERE impossible etc….

The cast would have to move there for the entire season’s episodes and the production would be using an east coast rew since it would be out of the question to transport all from Hollywood…

  29. As of this minute, Tammy, that is all the news there is about the new pilot, Three Rivers… Its filming is supposed to begin this week in Pittsburgh and contine for 3 weeks, bringing us between say April 3rd & April 8th…(8th would be the exact 3 weeks if the original headline on 03/11/2009 forecast the time period of a week later which would be around March 18th—2 days fans around PA & surrounding eastern states)that production would begin… And since it will run for 3 weeks, depending upon if they work weekends or not, which probably workload would push to do, I came up with the wrap between the above April dates…

And since it is filming for 3 weeks, to me that sounds like a whole pilot completion… Nothing was ever said that Alex would not be there, afterall he and Sophia went to NYC for one of the Moonlight episodes, think one with Josef’s comatose girlfriend so ill, but don’t quote me, would have to check my DVDs…

I would advise before making the trip, anyone, to find out the location it will be shot and from what studio in the area that will handle it…and I am sure there must be one as many producers are again turning to east coast locales to film since that part of the country, especially NYC, is making it very welcoming for them…

WOW, just think, if this takes off and successfully goes to TV as a weekly series, Alex may just be roosting in that neck of the woods while the series episodes are being filmed for the season!!! Wouldn’t that be awesome for all of the east coast fans, and other parts of the country, anyone for booking a vacation in PA?????

Also, some reality may make such a complete serial from being entirely shot there, though the pilot may entirely be… Example, Grey’s Anatomy does some shooting in the Seattle area, thought there actually is no SEATTLE GRACE HOSPITAL…but backgorund scenes, etc, may be shot in the series locale… So we do not know if this will be the case with “Three Rivers”, but for now, for the pilot, seems it is being fimed in Pittsburgh, PA…

Yes, Tiffany does a darn good job keeping us all informed about the happenings in Alex’s life… But I am certain if you hear something about the filming of the Three Rivers pilot, living so close, you will let her know first hand so she can tell us “Way Out West Fillys” (oh well, we can still call ourselves fillys, can’t we?)like myself…

Thanks Linda… Take great care… Tish Schau (Patricia is my formal name, prefer Tish, please & thank you…

I’m sure that if the pilot is planned, it will be on all the 3 of the local Pittsburgh TV stations, not to mention the entertainment shows. Time will tell. Good thing we have Tiffany to keep us posted on things like this. Until then, we will have to tune in to “Criminal Minds” on April 29th to see Alex. Stay well. 🙂

  34. Well Linda, you won’t know how you would feel about meeting Alex in person if you don’t head to Pittsburg while they are shooting the pilot for Three Rivers…

I have heard he is genuinely a sweetheart from people who have the luck to know him personally… He probably would be fun to meet and undoubtedly, as it seems from pix of other fans having met him, tries to make the person feel comfortable…

Now if you feel faint, if you aske for a pix with him, I am sure he is not going to let you fall as he holds you about the waist… Oooohhh, wish I lived so close…he could be my “tower of strength” to catch me and hold me anytime…

Geeze, I sound like a squealing teen, sorry…Flashbacks to my long ago Dion and Tony Orlando days back on the east coast…

Head over there Linda and tell us all about it…Take pix… Have fun…

  36. Hi Everyone – Yes, Beth is correct – in Pittsburg, there are 3 rivers: The Allegheny, the Monongahela and they come together to form the Ohio. I live in West Virginia, about 30 miles West of Pittsburgh so to get to Pittsburgh, we have to go throught “The Fort Pitt” tunnel and on the other side of the tunnel is the most beautiful view of Pittsburgh. Both Heinz Field and PNC Park are on the left, Station Square is on the right. Before Heinz Field was built, the Steelers and the Pirates both shared the stadium known as Three Rivers. Just a little bit of trivia for you guys. I wouldn’t know what to do if I actually got to see Alex in person. I guess I can dream, can’t I. Until next times friends, stay safe and stay well. 🙂

The Three Rivers are the Monongahela, Alleganey and Ohio rivers that all converge in Pittsburgh. Lots of history in that town.

  38. Excited about this?? Uh, let’s just say that I am over the moon(light)! Wow, now all of us fans are going to have to worry and obsess about this pilot making a big impression on TPTB and subsequently creating a hit for 2009-10.

This is supposed to be a character-driven show. We know that “our” Alex is up to the challenge!

  39. Linda,

Where exactly, & what do they mean by, Three Rivers… I know, by your post, there actually is such an area, so tell us more about it…

So…are you going to try to get there and watch some filming??? If you do, please post some pix for us here…Send to Tiffany and she will post for you, I think… We all wish we lived there now…I am originally from NJ, but at the penninsula of Bayonne… I now live in AZ for over 18 years…

  40. Hope, Hi,

Hate to bring you down to earth a bit…It is only being filmed in pilot form first, then it will have to be accepted for TV by TPTB and we all know who they are…

I know Alex will be great as a doctor… He’ll be playing a Transplant Surgeon, so that much more to swoon over…Well, doctors do have to study all degrees of medicine before they head into a specialized field, so let’s hope Alex will make personal house calls to his feeing faint fans…

Perhaps we all will get our wish, as we have been hoping for almost a year now, to see Alex weekly on TV… It’s not Moonlight, but some great things can come now, and maybe we can again push for Moonlight movies (not just one but several sequels on the big screen starring Alex and all of the TV cast of our beloved characters)… I would believe that once Alex completes a season, at a time (because we hope this pilot when it goes into a series withstands the Fates of CBS strongarms), that he will be free, until series production resumes again, to fill the void with other roles, like in movies or guest shots… I recently sent him a St Pat’s Day card and asked hm to think about doing some Moonlight movie sequels…I know I, for one, have so many questions about what would of happened, what was the complete story on Coraline, what also became of her?

Let us all be like Hope, Hopeful, Tish

And since he and all of the Moonlight cast and the show, itself, stole our hearts, this is a perfect comeback to TV for Alex…to transplant the heartfelt feelings we all have for his great and versatile acting abilities…

Yep, the fingers, the toes, crossed, crossed crossed and a couple of prayers won’t hurt either…Now if a boss who does not understand what the audience wants and stays out of the decision making, we will have “Thrre Rivers on our TV screens soon and for a long time to come…Hopefully it will survive the clutches of the people who do not know talent and good storylines or do not know or care what audiences want but, in the past, have been denied by that network…

Routing for this…And check out the new thread here about the Sturn Awards and Moonlight…
